How the New Roblox Developer Update Will Give You More Money

Roblox is introducing Regional Pricing for in-experience items to better suit local market conditions and boost creator earnings. This means international users will see Robux prices that more closely reflect their local economy. The plan is to extend Regional Pricing to avatar items later this year.

This initiative supports Roblox’s goal to channel 10% of the gaming content market revenue through its ecosystem. Regional Pricing allows creators to set region-specific prices for in-game items, helping them build a global business and a more inclusive player base.

Roblox already offers tools like Roblox Studio for global publishing and automatic text translation. Regional Pricing automatically determines optimal local prices for in-game items, benefiting both creators and international users. Instead of a uniform global price, prices are optimized for each region’s economy. Creators set a base price, and Roblox adjusts it based on economic factors.

For example, an item priced at 1,000 Robux in the U.S. might cost 700 Robux in Brazil and 500 Robux in India. Early tests showed that this regional pricing increased user spending in experiences by approximately 17% in Mexico, 26% in Brazil, and 52% in the Philippines.

In addition to Regional Pricing, Roblox offers Price Optimization, which helps creators determine the best prices for their in-game items by analyzing user behavior and transactions. Price Optimization has led to a median earnings increase of 4% for eligible creators. For instance, Slap Battles saw a 15% earnings increase by offering more competitive prices.

Tencell, the developer of Slap Battles, noted that Price Optimization removes the guesswork from pricing decisions. Roblox is also working on Regional Pricing for developer products and new ways to merchandise items, aiming to empower creators, drive growth, and unlock the full potential of their experiences.
